Summary: | MASTERS THESIS: A survey of existing information was conducted on the distribution and abundance of the ringtail, marten, fisher, wolverine, river otter, and the red fox. This group includes little known furbearers of California that require special management. It is not the purpose of this paper to be a definitive statement of the distribution and abundance of these furbearers. It is instead only a contribution towards comprehensive study of this neglected group of mammals. I have summarized the available data on these species. From the information presented here an appraisal of their current status can be made, and hopefully measures will be taken to fill the gaps in knowledge.
