Summary: | Fox Den Lake (66.558765°, -164.456696) bed water temperature 2009-2013 measured at 1.5 meters (m). The lake bed temperature data was collected to study the mean annual bottom temperature of thermokarst lakes on the Seward Peninsula, Alaska and the effect of surface waterbodies on the underlying permafrost terrain. Lake temperature data loggers were attached to a 5 pound weight plate that anchored them to the lake bed. A line and buoy were attached the weight plate to facilitate recovery of the sensor for download and maintenance. We deployed an Onset HOBO U020-001-02 water level logger to record water level and temperature in the middle of Fox Den lake between June 2009 and July 2013. Data were recorded on an hourly basis. Fox Den lake was selected as a measurement site because the lake depth is near the threshold for lake ice freezing to the bottom. |
