Images were captured using a BTC-2 minirhizotron camera system (Bartz Technology Corp., Carpinteria, CA) and analyzed using Rootfly (Clemsen University). Data are expressed as fine root projected area (mm2, length x width) of each root in each 1.3 x 0.9 cm viewing window. Data are separated into roots of Eriophorum vaginatum and all other species combined.
