Summary: | Active layer soil cores along a north-south transect were collected in August 2014 from near Deadhorse, AK to the northern Boreal forest near Sukapak Mountain. We quantified the viable microbial community as phospholipid fatty acids and determined the radiocarbon (14C) content of both the soil organic carbon and the phospholipid fatty acids. We also determined the amount of organic carbon, organic nitrogen and stable carbon isotopic composition of the soil organic matter. |
