Description
Summary:These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, pelagic monitoring component. The dataset describes marine bird and mammal surveys conducted during the summer (2012-13 and 2015) in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Data were collected to document the at-sea distribution and abundance of marine birds and mammals, following standard U.S. Fish and Wildlife protocols for strip surveys. There were two observers at all times and a recorder. Surveys were recorded using a RECON device with DLOG software and exported into a .csv. This dataset contains the survey data, consisting of: transect ID, date, time, latitude, longitude, record number, data type, species, count, behavior, plumage, distance, observers, observer conditions, the altitude of the survey, ice presence, trip ID, beaufort, transect type, transect width (m), and comments.
