Summary: | The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) at Columbia University have joined together to systematically map and measure the human influence on the Earthâs land surface. The Last of The Wild, Version Two depicts human influence on terrestrial ecosystems using data sets compiled on or around 2000. The data collection contains six data sets: (1) Last of the Wild (IGHP), v2, 1995-2004; (2) Last of the Wild (Geographic), v2, 1995-2004; (3) Global Human Influence Index (IGHP), v2, 1995-2004; (4) Global Human Influence Index (Geographic), v2, 1995-2004; (5) Global Human Footprint (IGHP), v2, 1995-2004; and (6) Global Human Footprint (Geographic), v2, 1995-2004. The data can be used for wildlife conservation planning, natural resource management, and research on human-environment interactions.
