Phytoplankton samples for Alexandrium catenella abundance collected in conjunction with phytoplankton toxicity samples have also been included. Samples predating this project (before June 2018) were held frozen until they were able to be analyzed for toxin content during the course of this project. Most fish samples were largely collected opportunistically by project partners and collaborators, including sport fishers as well as commercial fishers and processors. Hence, many of the sampling locations were estimated from maps and word of mouth, or were denoted roughly to the closest body of water (e.g., Kachemak Bay). Samples of shellfish, zooplankton and phytoplankton (including Alexandrium abundance) samples were collected largely at sampling locations leveraged from parallel projects.
