Summary: | This data is a special submission to NODC containing wave data during Hurricane Andrew August 25-26, 1992. This data file contains 24 bursts spaced at 2 hour intervals. Each burst contains 2048 points sampled at 2 Hz. The positive U and V axis must be rotated +105 degrees in the mathematical sense in order to align the +V axis with true north. For this data a time stamp of the first point of the burst is followed by 2048 points of data. The meter is located 2 meters above bottom. LATEX-A Hydrographic and Current data was submitted by Dr. Norman L Guinasso Jr., of Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. ************************************************************** ** MMS LATEX-A SHELF NODC Project Code 0212 ** ** PROVISIONAL DATA SUBMISSION ** ** LATEX DATA OFFICE Texas A&M University ** ** Geochemical and Environmental Research Group ** ** College Station TX 77843-3149 (409) 862-2321 ** ** ** ** Preliminary Data Subject to Revision ** ** Not to be release without permission ** ** of LATEX A Program Manager (409) 845-6714 ** ** ** ** Please communicate any errors found in this data set to: ** ** Dr. Norman Guinasso ** ** Texas A&M University ** ** Geochemical and Environmental Research Group ** ** College Station, TX 77843-3149 (409) 862-2324 ** ************************************************************** MOORED CURRENT/WAVE METER DATA INSTRUMENT TYPE: Coastal Leasing MiniSpec Directional Wave Gauge RECORD DESCRIPTION: CR SEPERATOR DATA FORMAT: ASCII,COLUMN DELIMITED ORIENTATION of +V axis relative to true north: 105 degrees PARAMETER COLUMN DESCRIPTION UNITS DATE 1 MON/DAY/YEAR DATE TIME 2 HOUR:MIN TIME U COMPONENT 1 E/W VELOCITY CM/S V COMPONENT 2 N/S VELOCITY CM/S PRESSURE 3 PRESSURE hPa (millibars) DEPLOYMENT CRUISE: 92P06 (M03) RECOVERY CRUISE: 92P08 (M04) START TIME: 08/25/1992 01:00:00 STOP TIME: 08/26/1992 23:00:00 MOORING: 16 - 20 meters SERIAL NUMBER: 10092 LATITUDE: 28.867N LONGITUDE: 90.491W $LATEX VERSION 2/4/94 convert velocity to cm/s and pressure to hPa $LATEX VERSION 2/4/94 correct instrument +U reading
