The data contained 52 files and 6,589 records. The data format written by Dr. Balch was designed to archive phytoplankton pigment and productivity data. A hardcopy of the README.TXT file was submitted in with other documentation; it includes a file list, data parameters, record layout, field descriptions, and descriptions of the parameter codes. Additional marine pigment and productivity data submitted by Dr. Balch is archived at NODC under accession number 9200060.
