Summary: | Data was collected from R/V COLUMBUS ISELIN in South Atlantic Ocean and North American Coast line-South during the Amazon Shelf Sediment Study (AMASSEDS) between May 23, 1990 to June 13, 1990. The data parameters were: pressure, temperature, salinity, oxygen, fluorescence and sediment concentration. A Neil Brown Instrument Systems Model MKIII CTD was used as the primary profiling instrument. A Sea Tech 5 cm path length Transmissometer and a Sea Tech Fluorometer were mounted near the CTD fish. On some stations the Fluoro- meter was replaced with an optical backscatter sensor to observe suspended sediment concentrations above the light transmissometer limit of 0.5 gm/l. Data was submitted in two diskettes by Dr. Richard Limeburner of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA. Data has been processed and is currently available in F022-CTD-Hi-Resolution file format of NODC.
