Ocean surface data may include water temperature and salinity (or conductivity), significant wave height and steepness. Subsurface temperature, salinity, conductivity, pressure, and east and north current components may also be reported. Wave data may be reported as spectral density values or (for directional spectra) as co- and quad-spectra or angular Fourier coefficients.
