Description
Summary:CAUTION: This data set needs to be investigated with Don Collins before the abstract can be finalised. After Suchira's discussion with Mitchell it is confirmed that the data in the accession and the submitter do not match. Suchira proposes putting all the details available in supplemental information till the dicrepencies can be sorted out and leaving only one paragraph abstract. The paragraph written by Suchira is--The data in this accession is archived hydrographic data sets spanning a period of 52 years from January 1932 to December 1984. Originator's data submitted in total of 43 tapes by Compass Systems, Inc. have been converted to the current NODC data storage format. Data were submitted by Mr. Arthur D. Stroud. These data sets contain physical profile data collected by multiple institutions spread across the world in different sea areas such as North Atlantic Ocean, North Pacific Ocean, South Pacific Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Coastal Waters of California, Coastal Waters of Washington/Oregon and Drake Passage using multiple ships. The information available for the different data sets is provided below. from the Secretaria de Marina, Servicio de Hidrografia Naval, Argentina. These data were collected aboard the Koyoshi Maru from 01/05/77 to 01/05/77. These data are in NODC BT format. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. This tape consists of Australian MBT data collected in the South Pacific from 1960 through 1968. These data were provided to Compass Systems, Inc. by the Australian Oceanographic Data Center. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by CSI. This tape contains UBT data collected by the Korean Navy off the coast of Korea from 1961 to 1977. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. (CSI). The data are in source format which is described in the documentation. Platform codes are unknown. Global MBT data spanning from 1932 through 1979 were provided by CSI. There are eleven tapes containing 100 foot and 30 meter level data. There are two tapes in Moods format. The documentation for the 43 tapes submitted by CSI is contained here. This tape contains Oregon State University Newport Line CTD data. This data set includes 10 files containing 1975 Oregon coast data, 4 files containing CUE-II data and 9 files containing 1972 CUE-II data. These data are in Oregon State University format and a description of the format is included in the documentation. There are no platform codes for some of the data. Also included in the tape is Ocean data from 1959 to 1970 (L130). This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. This is Foster drake passage STD data collected in 1975. There are two files in Moods format in this tape. The documentation includes a description of the source code. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. (I do not understand this, "foster" (?); Francis Drake maybe. is this ISOS/IDOE data ? (F. Mitchell 2/93). This is one of two tapes containing xbt data collected by Lamont Doherty Geological Observatory in the Southern pacific Ocean from 1976-1978. These data are in NODC UBT format and source code. The documentation includes a description of the source code format. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. The documentation includes a description of the source code format. This is one of 43 tapes submitted by Compass Systems, Inc. These data consist of BT and Station Data provided by the California Department of Fish and Game via Compass Systems, Inc. (CSI). These data were collected off the coast of Oregon and Baja California from 1966 to 1976 for the BT data, and from 1966-67, 1968, 1969-84 for the Station Data.
