A light‐reflectance meter to quantify silvering during smolting in Atlantic salmon

An easy‐to‐construct apparatus is described to quantify changes in silvering during smolting. A modulated visible‐red light emitter/receiver unit converts light reflected from the flank of the fish into a DC voltage, the voltage being proportional to the intensity of the reflected light.
