Summary: | Abstract Trends in total ozone for the period 1963–1974 at Australian stations Darwin, Brisbane, Aspendale and Macquarie Island have been discussed. Only Aspendale has a decreasing trend, which may be statistically significant. Trends in ozone at other places are not statistically significant. From the trend analysis of temperature at the 100mb level, and from Umkehr analysis, it is concluded that the changes in circulation in the lower stratosphere are sufficient to explain the observed trends. |
