Contribution to the Studies of the Naturally Occurring Lipids III: Uropygial Gland Waxes of the Grey‐lag Goose ( Anser anser), Canada Goose ( Branta canadensis) and their Hybrids

Abstract Alcohols and carboxylic acids obtained from the uropygial gland waxes of a Grey‐lag goose, a Canada goose and two hybrids (one mothered by a Greylag goose, another by a Canada goose) have been analysed. Structural determination of these alcohols and acids have been performed by mass spectro...

Description
Summary:Abstract Alcohols and carboxylic acids obtained from the uropygial gland waxes of a Grey‐lag goose, a Canada goose and two hybrids (one mothered by a Greylag goose, another by a Canada goose) have been analysed. Structural determination of these alcohols and acids have been performed by mass spectrometry of their respective N‐alkyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and N‐acyl‐pyrrolidine derivatives. The result of the investigation shows that the wax compositions of the hybrids and of their relatives are unlike.
