Abstract From 1983 to 1986, an eel fyke‐net fishery was studied within the estuary of Blavet River (Brittany) which was not fished yet. The monthly mean CPUE issued from logbook data can reach 4.8 kg/gear · 24 hours. They largely depend on the locations (the higher the more downstream they are) and on the season as well. The results suggest a rather narrow home range within all the year long. By analyzing the CPUE‐Effort relationship, no overfishing can be noticed, up to now.
