A second premise claims that there is a close similarity between the theory of sustainability and the resource management theory which informed the regulation of the Northwest Atlantic fishery. When the close similarity in theory is linked to a recognition that the practice of conservation in the fishery has failed catastrophically, there arises the possibility that the failure of the practice of conservation in the fishery can be a valuable. case study for shedding light on the theory of sustainability.
