Summary: | This article is excerpted from David Young’s talk to a Creative Arts Seminar, “Document and Fiction,” at Glendon College in January 1997, when Inexpressible Island was still in process. The seminar was hosted by Michael Ondaatje. Later in 1997, Inexpressible Island had both workshop and full productions by Necessary Angel Theatre Company, directed by Richard Rose. The play was remounted at Canadian Stage in October 1998. It is slated for production in Chemnitz, Germany, and has recently been translated into French by André Ricard. The editors wish to acknowledge the assistance of Cynthia Sartor and of Glendon College in transcribing the seminar tapes. |
