A phrase of Bobby Bums is often quoted - “Wad some power the giftie gie us, to see ourselves as ithers see us.” Perhaps it may be possible for me, looking at the problem from the view point of someone who is not involved in the teaching of French but who is intimately concerned with the development of curriculum for Newfoundland schools, to give a new insight into old and familiar problems.
