Identification of a Cytomegalovirus Recovered from Field Mice

A virus recovered in murine tissue cultures from the salivary glands of Microtus arvalis specimens, with cytomegalic inclusions in the duct cells, has been identified as a murine cytomegalovirus, distinct from the previously isolated Smith and Raynaud strains.
