Summary: | This study is a content analysis of sports news in three major newspapers, one in Iceland, England, and the United States. The cross-cultural comparisons focused on aspects of quantification in sport, coverage of female sports, amateur, semi-professional, and professional sports, and the problematic aspects of sports. The research shows differentiations in the structure of sport in Iceland when compared to England and the United States. The findings confirm the ideological and commercial interrelationship between sport and the media. |
