Childhood in National Consciousness and National Consciousness in Childhood

This article examines the place of national imagery and the experience of the nation in childhood. A comparison is drawn between such experiences in Iceland and Kamchatka, Russia. The ways in which these experiences become resources for expressing a distinct national identity is described.
