Summary: | Abstract Iceland joined the Council of Europe on 7 March 1950 and ratified the European Convention on Human Rights on 19 June 1953. Iceland has successively ratified the Additional Protocols to the Convention. 1 In accordance with Article 25 of the Convention, Iceland has made a declaration, for an indefinite period, recognizing the competence of the Commission to receive individual complaints. It has also accepted the jurisdiction of the Court in accordance with Article 46 for a specified period. The initial declaration was given on 3 September 1958 and is renewed periodically. |
