A bio tells what little is known of the scientific life of Lowe, who examined internal structures in Calanus finmarchicus using stained wax sections. Dr. Park’s career is summarized based on a generous interview. He used sections from Labidocera longipedata embedded in plastic. Organs considered are the heart and open circulation, a fibrous endoskeleton keeping the exoskeleton from collapsing, the gut, oil sac, excretory maxillary glands, functional aspects of the muscles, reproductive organs of both sexes, and the nervous system. Nerve structures detailed include the brain, statocysts located in the brain, and the ventral nerve cord.
