Description
Summary:Abstract Walther Kopp and two other men sailed from Copenhagen on July IO, 1930, and arrived at the mouth of Scoresby Sound on the nineteenth. Because the sea ice stays so much longer on the east coast of Greenland, no ship can enter Scoresby Sound before the middle of summer. Kopp had experience with high-altitude atmospheric measurements at the Aeronautical Observatory in Lindenburg, Germany. Hermann Peters was trained as a biologist, and Arnold Ernsting was an engineering student.
