Description
Summary:Abstract Athapascan territory stretches from the Alaskan interior to within striking distance of the Columbia Basin and the northern Plains. The crest displays, masked dances, and potlatches of the west, with distance, change to the Plains-style vision quests of the south and east. In mythology, too, there is a gradual shift from Eskimo and Northwest Coast influences, as Raven, the trickster-hero of the far west, becomes a villain, then virtually disappears east of the Rockies.
