Anderson led one of the earliest expeditions into the high Arctic, studying the anthropology and biology of the northern Mackenzie and southern Franklin districts of the Canadian Northwest Territories from 1908 through 1912. Stefansson and Ander son returned and explored the western Canadian Arctic, including Herschel Island, from 1913 through 1918. Stefansson also actively explored the northern and western coasts of Alaska. |
