John Alcock and Lieut. Arthur Whitten Brown flew from Newfoundland to Ireland in a Vickers Vimy with Rolls‐Royce Eagle VIII engines. The flight took 16 hours and 27 minutes. In the same year another aircraft of this type piloted by Capt.
