Summary: | The nucleotides of the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg) have been fractionated by chromatography on diethylaminoethyl cellulose and characterized by their ultraviolet absorption and paper chromatographic properties. Major components were adenosine-5′ phosphate, adenosine-5′ diphosphate, and adenosine-5′ triphosphate. Other nucleotides isolated were uridine-5′ phosphate, uridine-5′ diphosphate, uridine-5′ triphosphate, uridine-5′ diphosphate N-acetylglucosamine, guanosine-5′ phosphate, and guanosine-5′ diphosphate. Two other nucleotides, one derived from guanine and the other from an unidentified base, were isolated and partially characterized. |
