Morphological and biochemical descriptions of the taxon are provided. Geographic range is east Kamchatka (USSR) to Yakutat, Alaska (USA). Maximum depth of capture in the Gulf of Alaska is 196 fath (358 m). Absolute abundance appears to be low, and centered in shallow water with juvenile Pacific ocean perch (Sebastes alutus). Von Bertalanffy growth constants, for combined sexes, are: K = 0.18, and L ∞ = 31.4 cm. All females larger (older) than 21 cm (7 years) were mature, and all smaller (younger) than 18 cm (5 years) were immature.
