Summary:A new fish of the family Bathymasteridae, Bathymaster leurolepis, is described from the Aleutian Islands. The new species is closely related to B. caeruleofasciatus, with which it has been confused. Bathymaster leurolepis and B. caeruleofasciatus broadly overlap in geographic range, but apparently differ in depth distribution. The geographic range of B. leurolepis is from northern Japan to the Gulf of Alaska.
