The peculiar Ordovician trilobite Hypodicranotus from the Whittaker Formation, District of Mackenzie

The complete exoskeleton of the widely dispersed remopleuridid trilobite Hypodicranotus is reconstructed for the first time based on well-preserved silicified material of Hypodicranotus striatulus (Walcott 1875) from the lower Whittaker Formation (Upper Ordovician, Edenian) of the southern Mackenzie Mountains. The minute oval pygidium consists of a single segment and, as such, it is the most reduced trilobite pygidium known. The subfamily Hypodicranotinae Přibyl and Vaněk is a junior synonym of the Remopleuridinae Hawle and Corda.
