Age of Ag–Pb–Zn mineralization, Keno Hill – Galena Hill area, Yukon Territory

Summary: | Whole-rock K–Ar model ages of Keno Hill quartzite from small stockwork zones adjacent to Ag–Pb–Zn veins (Husky and Keno deposits) indicate that mineralization occurred at about 87 Ma. Regionally metamorphosed country rocks more distant from stockwork zones have potassium–argon model ages that are slightly but significantly older, indicating that mineralization postdated the main phase of Late Cretaceous regional metamorphism. |
