New evidence from offset aeromagnetic anomalies for transcurrent faulting associated with the Bathurst and McDonald faults, Northwest Territories

Sinistral offsets of aeromagnetic anomalies in the Churchill Province near its boundary with the Slave Province indicate that the Bathurst fault extends some 130 km into the Churchill Province, and that it is attended by previously unrecognized major sinistral splay faults, which extend up to 160 km...

description Sinistral offsets of aeromagnetic anomalies in the Churchill Province near its boundary with the Slave Province indicate that the Bathurst fault extends some 130 km into the Churchill Province, and that it is attended by previously unrecognized major sinistral splay faults, which extend up to 160 km into the Churchill Province. The offset across the master fault is 18 km, and the cumulative offset across all the faults is 48 km. Linear aeromagnetic anomalies are offset by the McDonald fault and alternative possible correlations of the anomalies across the fault suggest dextral displacements of 125 km and 70 km.
