Summary:Two sets of maps were compiled for the Casement Glacier and its outwash area from aerial photography taken m 1948 and 1963 and plotted on a Wild B-8 aviograph. The major problems resulted from lack of measured ground control; they were overcome by stereotemplet triangulation for planimetric control and by the use of the extensive bodies of water to provide both model levelling and a height datum. An analysis of the accuracy of the results is made. Comparison of the two sets of maps reveals extensive ice wastage, with a maxi mum retreat of the ice front of 1.5 km. Large masses of stagnant ice have been detached from the glacier and covered by fluvioglacial deposits. The development of landforms in these deposits resulting from the wastage of the buried ice is discussed.
