Ringicula (R.) cockburnensis n. sp. most closely resembles R. castigata from the middle Oligocene Duntroonian Stage of New Zealand and provides further support for the strong provinciality (Weddellian Province) that existed along the southern margin of the Pacific during the Late Cretaceous and early Tertiary.
