Relic Pleistocene Permafrost, Western Arctic, Canada

Icy layers and interbedded frozen sediments along the Arctic Coastal Plain of northwestern Canada have been subjected to glacial deformation. Radiocarbon dates indicate that the deformation took place more than 40,000 years ago.
