Thomas Jeremiah

A view of Charles Town, the capital of South Carolina, in 1778 Thomas Jeremiah ( 1735 - 18 August 1775) was a free black harbor pilot, firefighter, fisherman and merchant from Charles Town, South Carolina, in British North America. A prominent resident of the city, he was executed for attempting to foment a slave revolt during the American Revolutionary War. His execution was controversial even at the time, and he has since become a "representative" for the state of blacks in the Revolution. Provided by Wikipedia
