Edith S. Sampson

Edith Sampson (1910-1979) was an American lawyer, diplomat and civil rights advocate known for being the first African-American to officially represent the United States at the United Nations, appointed in 1950. She was also the first African-American U.S. delegate to NATO. Provided by Wikipedia
